X-Lite, The Blog

Some witty tagline will eventually go here.

You Talk, We Listen

Sorry for the delay in posting everyone. It’s easy to work up quite the appetite changing the world, and most of us spent the long weekend up here refilling ourselves with turkey dinner instead of blogging. That said, we’re back at it and continuing to do improvements with X-Lite.

First off, thanks everyone for all of the feedback so far with regards to our new X-Lite version. Lots of people emailed and said they absolutely loved it. A few people were concerned that the UI looked a little flat, and I just wanted to let everyone know that we’re making changes as we speak. Hopefully I’ll be able to post something to the blog here in the next week or so allowing people to test it out.

I’ll also be posting a slight refresh for X-Lite 4.0 shortly (this will not include the new UI elements, but contains a few bug fixes), so look for that today or tomorrow.

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please drop me a line. I’m also working on a real-time map of where X-Lite users are located, so everyone can see the usage from the blog. Look for that shortly as well.

  1. X-Lite is an outstanding free client and we have adopted it as our stable mate over the last several years. We will continue with X-Lite as we our roll out of the first phase of a new communications service.

The method we plan to use is to supply X-Lite via a post of the software on an internal web page. A nice touch might include a pre-configured client where the user need only to add the UserID and password in order to be in business.

I’m proposing a collaboration effort to help us while we use the free version and once accomplished, to look forward to a more secure model using Eye Beam. Thank you. –Phil

  2. Hi Phil. The feature you are looking for is called provisioning, and it’s available in our paid clients. It’s purposefully left out of our free client, since the free client is primarily targeted for consumers that just want to test out VOIP and see how it works. Most businesses and communications companies purchase commercial versions of our client.
