X-Lite, The Blog

Some witty tagline will eventually go here.

Latest X-Lite 4.0 Release Candidate

X-LiteSome of you have probably noticed a new button on the last beta of X-Lite 4.0. It’s located in the toolbar area, and is on the far right. This button will bring up the new X-Lite dashboard, where we plan to introduce a few new web-based features in the near future.

Right now, you can search for local companies in various companies, browse the CounterPath store on Amazon, view this blog, and also access our support forum. We’re going to be trying to add a few features in this area that we think will help people use X-Lite. One of the main benefits of this approach is that we can continue to make adjustments to the features in this area without having people download a new version each time to utilize some of them.

If you’ve registered X-Lite as your default SIP handler during the install process, you should be able to place calls directly from the dashboard. We’re going to be improving the functionality of this feature at some point, and will hopefully allow people to store contact lists, call history and other information in these panels.

CounterPath Store

Feel free to browse around. We’ll undoubtedly be refining this content in the near future, but the dashboard will definitely be in the new X-Lite 4.0.

If you want to check out the store, you can visit this link. You can also purchase accessories from now on by using the link on the sidebar.

  2. We haven’t released a Mac version yet. I’m fairly certain we will be discontinuing all PPC versions of our products going forward. Even Apple is giving up support for PPC in their next OS release.

  3. The dashboard is a nice idea but I have a suggestion. Would it be possible in the future to use it with a CRM software that pops up the dashboard to a link that searches the incoming phone number in the database and lets you get into the caller’s account automatically?

For example, after you answer the call, the dashboard comes up and is redirected to a url that looks like that:
    http://www.my-crm-software.com/search.php?search={phone-number-variable}

All we would need to do is to input our CRM URL in the dashboard’s settings and you could let us insert some variables in the URL like for example the incoming phone number or the caller id.

  4. Hi J. Turcot,

That’s an interesting idea. Another interesting idea would be to start a new CMS posting based on that phone number, in case you wanted to record information for calls after the fact.

  5. That’s a good idea too but the problem is that there are so many CRM software and they all have a different ways of adding the new contacts or accounts into the database.

If we could have a custom URL with variables that pops up in the dashboard on every incoming calls, the users could then be redirected to the dashboard anywhere they want depending of their CRM web application with that custom URL.

  6. Yah, I understand what you’re trying to accomplish. What would be the use case though? Would it be to see information about that phone number that someone has added content for before?

Also, it might be enough to support a few of the larger CMS systems using a drop down.

  7. I am not talking about a CMS, but a CRM, something like for example Salesforce.com or SugarCRM. They are used to keep a database of business contacts and business activities.

This way when a client calls, we would have his contact information and all his history automatically without having to search for it in our web application every time he calls.
